Youth Protection Training (YPT) Clarification
As you all are aware, Youth Protection Training (YPT) is mandatory for all BSA-registered volunteers. Western Region policy requires YPT annually, despite two-year printed on the digital course certificate. YPT is also strongly encouraged for all adults working with your unit to maintain the most secure environment possible for our youth members. We recently had some miscommunication regarding the classroom version of YPT which led some leaders to believe that htey had to take the classroom version for extended camps. Classroom training is only required for staff, in accordance with National Camp School policies. We apologize for any misunderstanding. Online YPT training is available to anyone, whether BSA-registered or not, at . If your unit prefers a classroom session, YPT is offered annually in Spanish and English at University of Scouting, or you can request that a trainer visit your unit by emailing a request to ypt@ .
